Generally it is difficult to quote on water damage repairs without inspecting the iPhone first, as the extent of the damage will dictate whether the iPhone can be repaired and if any other parts are required. My iPhone has just been water damaged! What should I do?

If your iPhone has just suffered water damage, the first thing to do is to turn it off. The impurities in the water act as a conductor and damage the components by shorting them out. Switching the phone off immediately increases the chance that it will be repairable.

After this, the most important thing is to dry it out as quickly as possible. Don't go overboard with a hair drier as too much heat can damage other components, but gentle heat from a hair drier or leaving the iPhone out in the sun is a good idea. We've heard some recommendations of using desiccant or putting the iPhone in a jar of rice (!), but generally we believe moderate heat is the best way to dry it out quickly.

After that, send it into a repairer to be looked at as quickly as possible. The longer it is left, the more the corrosion sets in and the harder it is to repair. FiXPOD is happy to give you a quote at no charge, with no obligation to proceed.

If you need to fix your water damaged iPhone, please contact us or see our repairs section for more details or an obligation free quote.
